USPS going "Postal" for QR Codes
The postal service has announced a 3% postage discount for direct mail that incorporates QR codes this summer.
- Effective July 1 - August 31, 2011
- First-Class Mail letters or flats or Standard Mail commercial letters with permit
- Nonprofit rates are ineligible for discount
- Smartphone readable 2D (QR) barcode included and can be inside or out, if outside must comply with the man (mail design requirements) also, 1D need not apply
- QR code must have a marketing, promotional or educational interaction objective between recipient and sender
I love everything QR and this is only the beginning, image recognition and digital watermarking will soon enhance dynamic print for mobile marketing.
